Chemical fiber five categories: polyester, nylon, acrylic, polypropylene, spandex


  1. Polyester: firm and wrinkle-free  Characteristics:

High strength, good impact resistance, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant, moth-resistant, acid and alkali resistance, light resistance is very good (second only to acrylic), exposure to 1000 hours, the strength to maintain 60-70%, hygroscopicity is very poor, dyeing is difficult, the fabric is easy to wash and fast drying, good shape retention. It has the characteristics of “washable”.


Filament use: often as a low elasticity silk, making a variety of textiles;

Staple fiber use: cotton, wool, hemp, etc. can be blended, industry: tire cord, fishing nets, ropes, filter cloth, edge insulation materials. Is currently the largest amount of chemical fiber.


Generally use disperse dyes dyeing, using high temperature and high pressure dyeing.


  1. Nylon: strong and wear-resistant   Characteristics:

The biggest advantage of nylon is that it is strong and wear-resistant, and it is one of the most optimal. Small density, light fabric, good elasticity, resistance to fatigue damage, chemical stability is also very good, alkali resistance not acid.

The biggest disadvantage is that the sunlight resistance is not good, the fabric will turn yellow after a long time in the sun, the strength decreases, moisture absorption is not good, but better than acrylic, polyester.


Filament, mostly used in knitting and silk industry; staple fiber, mostly blended with wool or wool-type chemical fibers, for wadding tweed, vannettin and so on. Industry: cord and fishing nets, also can be used as carpets, ropes, conveyor belts, sieves and so on.


Generally use acid dye dye, room temperature and pressure can be dyed.


  1. Acrylic: Puffy and sun-resistant   Introduction:

The performance of acrylic fiber is very much like wool, so it is called “synthetic wool”.

Molecular structure: Acrylic fiber is unique in its internal structure, which is irregular spiral conformation, and there is no strict crystallization area, but there are high and low order arrangement. Because of this structure, acrylic has good thermal elasticity (can be processed as bulky yarn), acrylic density is small, smaller than wool, and the fabric has good warmth.


Sunlight resistance and weather resistance is very good (in the first place), poor moisture absorption, difficult to dye.

Pure acrylonitrile fiber, due to the internal structure of tight, poor taking performance, so by adding the second, third monomer, improve its performance, the second monomer to improve the elasticity and feel, the third monomer to improve the dyeing.


Mainly for civilian use, it can be purely spun or blended, made into a variety of wool, wool, woolen blanket, sportswear; also: artificial fur, plush, bulky yarn, water hose, parasol cloth, etc..


Generally use cationic dyestuff, can be dyed under normal temperature and pressure.


  1. Vinylon: water-soluble and hygroscopic   Characteristics:


Vinylon is characterized by moisture absorption, synthetic fibers in the best, known as “synthetic cotton”. Strength than brocade, polyester poor, good chemical stability, not resistant to strong acids, alkali resistance. Sunlight resistance and weather resistance is also very good, but it is resistant to dry heat but not heat and humidity (shrinkage) elasticity is the worst, the fabric is easy to wrinkle, poor dyeing, color is not bright.


More and cotton blending: fine cloth, poplin, corduroy, underwear, canvas, tarpaulin, packaging materials, labor clothing and so on.


Direct dyes, reactive dyes, disperse dyes and so on can make Velvic dyeing, but the dyeing depth is poor.


  1. Spandex: elastic fiber  characteristics:

Spandex has the best elasticity, the worst strength, poor moisture absorption, good resistance to light, acid, alkali and abrasion. Spandex is a highly elastic fiber necessary for the pursuit of dynamic and convenient high-performance clothing. Spandex can elongate 5-7 times more than its original form, so it is comfortable to wear, soft to the touch, and does not wrinkle, and can always maintain the original silhouette.


Spandex is widely used in underwear, women’s underwear, casual wear, sportswear, socks, pantyhose, bandages, and other textile and medical fields.


Spandex is also more difficult to color, now can be dyed with disperse dyes and acid dyes through additives.
